Speech Therapy:

ST at an early age is a very important intervention as your child is helped to develop language and expressive strategies to convey messages, express their feelings and interact with others.  It also focuses on helping your child develop strong receptive skills.

Occupational Therapy:

Special Instruction:

Special Instruction helps your child improve cognitive skills: attention, interaction with peers and adults, and basic language acquisition. Through play SI helps children develop play skills such as taking turns, following game rules and recognizing objects.

ABA:

Applied Behavior Analysis is a widely used approach that involves applying behavioral principles to help children to learn new skills and behavior while reducing challenging behavior.  ABA is one of the most effective, evidence-based treatments for Autism Spectrum disorder.

Why is ABA an unique service in Early Intervention?

Under the Early Intervention Program, eligibility for ABA services allows a child to receive ABA and other related services at home or at a school setting facility (center-based).  In addition, a child eligible for center-based services will have access to NYSDOT approved transportation (school bus).  ABA under EI is crucial and we encourage parents to make good use of the resources Early Intervention provides as EI services terminate the year the child turns 3 years.

Social Work:

A family can benefit from social work services under the Early Intervention to assist with access to community resources and to provide emotional support.

Feeding Therapy:

Feeding Therapy is a specialized therapy focusing on helping your child develop normal eating patterns and behaviors.

The Early Intevention Program (EIP) is a public program funded by The New York State and county governments (NYC Department of Mental Health) for children under the age of three who are either suspected of having or at risk for developmental delays or disabilities. Potentially eligible children must be referred to the county program to receive EIP services: New York City – 311. All EIP services are provided at no cost to parents. Health Insurance may be used for approved services. A child’s eligibility for the program can be determined only by state-approved evaluators under contract and all services must be authorized by the county. If a child is found eligible for the EIP, all needed early intervention services are identified in collaboration with the parent and must be authorized by the municipality. The municipality will arrange for service providers, considering the individual needs of the child and family, to deliver services authorized by the municipality. When Early Intervention services are delivered in child care settings or community locations that require a fee, the parent is responsible for paying any associated costs with such access to child care or community locations. Intake Connect Child Sercice is approved by New York State and has a contract with New York City to provide early intervention services.
